A word or two needs to be said about church access. Sadly security considerations mean that churches are often locked, and this applies to some of those featured on this trail, although several are open regularly (e.g. Washingborough and Dunston). All the churches featured will have a dedicated Spires & Steeples notice on display that provides details of opening times and key holders together with addresses or telephone numbers as needed.

As the trail name implies we aim to undertake a tour from beautiful church to church, from steeple to steeple across the distinctive landscape and to enjoy intriguing artworks and much else along the way.

Lincolnshire has an acknowledged and enviable heritage of glorious churches and North Kesteven has its fair share of these - and they deserve to be better known! The Spires & Steeples trail will go some way towards achieving that aim!
